Good Practice Guide on Plumbing Works launched today (with photo)

Officiating at the promulgation ceremony, the Assistant Director of Water Supplies, Mr Chan Chung-kun, said, "Design and construction of plumbing installation is a key component in ensuring good quality of water at the taps for the general public. To safeguard the quality of plumbing works, relevant stakeholders need to take different roles and responsibilities to ensure that the works comply with contractual and statutory requirements. Moreover, management of plumbing materials and supervision of plumbing works during construction have very important effects on the quality of works.
"The Good Practice Guide on Plumbing Works formulated by the Water Supplies Department together with the industry clarifies the roles and responsibilities of relevant stakeholders in plumbing works and provides practical guidelines for enhancing the management of plumbing materials and construction management of plumbing works."
Another officiating guest, the Chairman of the Construction Industry Council, Mr Chan Ka-kui, said, "The objective of this Guide is to enhance quality, productivity and construction management of plumbing works. We encourage all relevant stakeholders, including developers, main contractors, plumbing contractors, licensed plumbers and plumbing workers, to adopt the recommendations set out in the Guide."
The Construction Industry Council also released the Reference Materials on Connecting Copper Pipes today. The Materials highlight good practices on connecting copper pipes, including the standards of copper tubing, installation fittings and soldering materials and the steps of soldering, in a simple manner with an aim of improving the workmanship of plumbing works.
