Special traffic arrangements on Hong Kong Island

     Police will implement special traffic arrangements to facilitate two public events to be held on Hong Kong Island this Sunday (March 5).

(I)

     The general pick-up / drop-off and loading / unloading area on Lung Wo Road north of Star Ferry Multi-Storey Car Park will be closed from 1.15am to 3pm. All motorcycle parking spaces at the said area will also be suspended.

     The following traffic arrangements will be implemented from 4am to 2.30pm:

Road closure
------------

- Edinburgh Place east and north of City Hall, except for vehicles entering or leaving City Hall car park;
- Westbound Lung Wo Road, except the slow lane of westbound Lung Wo Road between Tim Wa Avenue and Edinburgh Place;
- The slow lane of eastbound Lung Wui Road between Legislative Council Road and Lung Wo Road; and
- Legislative Council Road, except for vehicles entering or leaving the Legislative Council Complex.

Traffic diversions
------------------

- Traffic along northbound Edinburgh Place east of City Hall cannot enter Lung Wo Road;
- Traffic along northbound Legislative Council Road cannot turn left to westbound Lung Wo Road. Traffic will be diverted via southbound Legislative Council Road;
- Traffic along westbound Fenwick Pier Street cannot enter westbound Lung Wo Road.
- Traffic along eastbound Lung Wui Road cannot turn left to westbound Lung Wo Road;
- Traffic along eastbound Lung Wo Road cannot turn right to westbound Lung Wo Road; and
- Traffic along eastbound Lung Wo Road cannot turn right to Edinburgh Place or Tim Wa Avenue.

(II)

     The following roads will be intermittently closed from 1pm, until the crowd is dispersed:

- Yee Wo Street;
- Causeway Road;
- Westbound Leighton Road;
- Keswick Street;
- Pennington Street;
- Jardine's Bazaar;
- Westbound Hennessy Road; and
- Westbound Queensway.

     Vehicles may not be permitted to leave the car parks along the closed roads during the road closure period.

     Actual implementation of the traffic arrangements will be made depending on traffic and crowd conditions in the area. Motorists are advised to exercise tolerance and patience and take heed of instructions of the Police on site.
