Update on cluster of Norovirus cases in Queen Elizabeth Hospital

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     Regarding the recent Norovirus cases among patients in a paediatric and adolescent ward in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the hospital announced the following updates today (February 21):

     One more 19-year-old female patient presented with vomiting symptoms in the ward. Appropriate viral tests arranged for the patient have been positive for Norovirus. The patient is being treated under isolation with stable condition.

     Infection control measures at the ward concerned have already been enhanced. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.

     The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
