SHA congratulates Hong Kong cycling athletes on their achievements at Asian Track Cycling Championship

     The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Lau Kong-wah, today (February 10) congratulated Hong Kong’s cycling athletes on achieving great results by winning five gold medals for Hong Kong at the 37th Asian Track Cycling Championship in India.

     Today’s two gold medals were won by Lee Wai-sze as well as Meng Zhaojuan and Pang Yao participating in the Women’s Elite Keirin and Madison respectively. Lee Wai-sze also broke her own record by winning three gold medals in the Championship.

     Mr Lau said, "It is not easy to capture medals in intense competitions. The great achievements of Hong Kong’s athletes not only prove that they have scaled new heights but also contribute to the promotion of cycling. We are very delighted and extend our heartfelt congratulations to them."

     The efforts and commitment of the Hong Kong Cycling Team as well as coaches and other members of the Team led by the Head Coach, Mr Shen Jinkang, should also be highly commended, he said.

     The Hong Kong cycling team has won 11 medals, with details as follows:

Meng Zhaojuan and Pang Yao - Women’s Madison Gold medal

Leung Chun-wing - Men's Scratch Gold medal
