Murder in Sheung Shui

At about 5.10pm yesterday, Police received a report from a 34-year-old foreign man that his foreign wife attacked their daughter in a unit in Cheung Tak House, Cheung Wah Estate.
Police officers sped to the scene and found the three-year-old girl lying unconsciously inside the flat. Sustaining neck injuries, the girl was rushed to North District Hospital where she was certified dead at 6.07pm.
Initial investigation revealed that the girl had been attacked by her 30-year-old mother.
The 30-year-old woman was arrested in suspected connection with the case and is being detained for further enquiries.
Post-mortem examinations on the deceased will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of her death.
Active investigation by the District Crime Squad of Tai Po is under way.
