CS celebrates Lunar New Year with the community (with photos)

     The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, visited Lo Wu Control Point and met front-line officers of the Immigration Department, the Hong Kong Police Force, the Customs and Excise Department and the Department of Health this morning (January 28).
 
     He commended staff of different government departments for their dedication in providing efficient services to a huge number of members of the public and tourists over the Lunar New Year period. He also extended his holiday greetings to members of the public and tourists while inspecting the control point.
 
     Mr Cheung then visited the elderly at Caritas Fu Heng Home in Tai Po and sent his festive regards to its residents, their families and members of staff. Sharing the festive joy of the Lunar New Year, he joined the elderly in singing New Year songs.
 
     Later, he headed to Lam Tsuen in Tai Po to officiate at the lantern lighting ceremony of the Hong Kong Well-wishing Festival 2017, where he was joined by the Chairman of the Heung Yee Kuk, Mr Lau Ip-keung, and the Chairman of the Tai Po District Council, Mr Cheung Hok-ming.
 
     They witnessed the opening of the annual well-wishing festival and, along with local residents and overseas visitors, wished Hong Kong a prosperous year ahead.
 
     Mr Cheung then gave out lai see packets and New Year gifts to the socially disadvantaged, who joined the event at the invitation of the Social Welfare Department, and extended his festive greetings to them. He then visited stalls at the festival.
