Appointments to Quality Education Fund Steering Committee

     The Education Bureau today (January 20) announced the appointment of members to the Quality Education Fund Steering Committee (QEFSC).
      
     The following members have been appointed to the QEFSC:
 
* Dr Ho Yuk-fan, Principal, Carmel Alison Lam Foundation Secondary School
* Ms Jane Leung Chui-chun, Headmistress, HHCKLA Buddhist Wisdom Primary School
* Miss Bella Lo Sung-yi, Director, FC Packaging Holding Limited
* Ms Shum Siu-fong, Principal, Po Leung Kuk Mr & Mrs Chan Pak Keung Tsing Yi School
* Mr Shum Yiu-kwong, Principal, FDBWA Chow Chin Yau School
* Mrs Bonnie Woo Chan Tak-chi, Chief Executive Officer, Icicle Group Limited
 
     The following members have been re-appointed to the QEFSC:
 
* Dr Eugene Chan Kin-keung, Director, Dr Chan and Partners Dental Surgeons Limited
* Dr Lam Sek-kong, Partner, SK Lam, Alfred Chan & Co
* Dr Brian Lo King-hang, Consultant, APT Satellite Holdings Limited
* Dr Mak Chi-keung, Research Fellow, Department of Biology and Chemistry, City University of Hong Kong
* Professor Tse Chi-kong, Chair Professor, Department of Electronic and Information Engineering, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University
 
     The members' appointments took effect from January 16, 2017, for a term of two years.
      
     "I am confident that with the above appointments, the Quality Education Fund (QEF) will continue with its excellent work in the promotion of quality school education in Hong Kong," said the Secretary for Education, Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim.

     He also thanked the outgoing Members, Ms Dilys Chau Suet-fung, Dr Charles Chan Ching-hai, Ms Sylvia Chan May-kuen, Ms Shirley Marie Therese Loo, Mr Ma Ching-cheng and Ms Wu Shuk-yin, for their contributions to the QEFSC in the past years.

     The QEF was established in early 1998 with capital of $5 billion to fund community initiatives which promote quality education in Hong Kong. The QEFSC advises on the policies and operation of the QEF and also makes recommendations to the Fund's Trustee on the awards of grants.

     Since its establishment, the Fund has supported over 9 000 projects with a total grant amounting to over $4.2 billion.
