Acting SFH on human case of avian influenza and Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme (with photo)
******************************************************************************************
Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Acting Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan, after attending the seasonal influenza vaccination activity for Legislative Council members at the Legislative Council Complex today (January 11):

Reporter: Is the Government considering raising the alert given that there is another imported case of human avian flu?

Acting Secretary for Food and Health: At this particular time, first of all, we take care of the patients, making sure that they are under very good care. On the other hand, the risk of avian influenza A(H7N9) is still ongoing. Therefore, we want to appeal to the public to maintain personal hygiene. The most important thing is that they should not touch live poultry. When they go aboard, they should avoid going to wet markets with live poultry.

Reporter: Is the Government able to trace the contact of the boy concerned......

Acting Secretary for Food and Health: The Centre for Health Protection and the Hospital Authority are working on tracing all the contacts and the work is ongoing.
