LegCo Panel on Security visits Fire and Ambulance Services Academy (with photos)

     The Legislative Council (LegCo) Panel on Security conducted a visit to the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy (FASA) today (January 4) to better understand its training facilities and related training provided.
 
     Members visited various training areas of FASA to learn about the realistic training taken by firefighters and ambulance personnel in handling incidents occurred at railway station, train tunnel, petrol filling station and fuel tanks.  Members also visited the Driving Training Centre and Compartment Fire Behaviour Training Area.
 
     Members took the opportunities to observe various training and rescue demonstrations including handling multiple casualties during road traffic incident.  Meanwhile, FASA trainees showed demonstrations relating to aircraft firefighting, urban search and rescue, gondola rescue, as well as swift water rescue.  The demonstrations gave Members a better understanding on how the Fire Services Department (FSD) coordinates and tackles a wide range of large-scale incidents.
 
     During the visit, Members met with the Director of Fire Services, Mr Li Kin-yat, and senior management of FSD to exchange views on issues of mutual concern.  
 
     Members who participated in the visit included the Chairman of the Panel, Mr Chan Hak-kan, the Deputy Chairman of the Panel, Mr James To Kun-sun, Panel members Mr Wong Ting-kwong, Mr Paul Tse Wai-chun,  Mr Leung Kwok-hung, Mr Michael Tien Puk-sun, Mr Yiu Si-wing, Mr MA Fung-kwok, Mr Charles Peter Mok, Mr Chan Chi-chuen, Dr  Elizabeth Quat, Mr POON Siu-ping and Ms Yung Hoi-yan, as well as non-Panel member Mr Ip Kin-yuen.
