****************************************************************
The Chairman of the 2016 Fight Crime Conference, Mr Kwok Wing-keung, today (December 10) appealed to the whole community to support and co-operate with the Police in combating crime hand in hand and remain vigilant against deception, with a view to maintaining Hong Kong as one of the safest cities in the world.

The Conference is organised by the Fight Crime Committee (FCC) with "Join Hands with Police, Fight Crime and Prevent Scam" as this year's theme. The Conference serves as a forum for members of FCC and the 18 District Fight Crime Committees (DFCCs) to enhance communication and reinforce liaison with each other as well as to exchange views on topics relating to law and order and fight crime strategies in Hong Kong.

The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, delivered an opening address at the Conference, and the Chief Secretary for Administration and Chairperson of FCC, Mrs Carrie Lam, gave a keynote speech.

To herald this year's Conference, five pre-conference discussion group meetings were organised for members of the 18 DFCCs to deliberate on various law and order issues, namely "technology crime and commercial crime", "quick cash crime", "youth drug problem and youth crime", "burglary and home security" and "domestic violence".  The five discussion groups presented the outcome of their discussions at the Conference.

In addition, nearly 400 DFCC members attending the Conference participated in a plenary session interacting with the official members of FCC and heads of relevant policy bureaux and departments to discuss and share opinions on various crime issues concerned.

Other government officials attending the Conference included the Secretary for Justice, Mr Rimsky Yuen, SC; the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung; the Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok; the Secretary for Education, Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim; the Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Lau Kong-wah; the Commissioner of Police, Mr Lo Wai-chung; the Commissioner of Correctional Services, Mr Yau Chi-chiu; and the Director of Home Affairs, Miss Janice Tse.
