Transcript of remarks by SCMA at media session
**********************************************
Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Raymond Tam, at a media session after attending the Legislative Council meeting today (November 30):

Reporter: Are there any special requirements ... that they have to fit before they get the (Home Visit) Permit?

Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs: As I mentioned to the other fellow reporters a while ago, I personally have not received any news. But in the past few years, it has been the long-term position of the SAR (Special Administrative Region) Government that we would be more than willing and happy to be the facilitator to arrange for Legislative Councillors to visit the Mainland so that they can have regular contact with CPG (Central People's Government) senior officials responsible for Hong Kong affairs, and also at the same time to see first-hand for themselves the latest developments in the Mainland. Therefore we have been very positive and we have been facilitating such meetings and visits before. On the question of the Home Visit Permit, the question was raised by both the pan-democratic camp and pro-establishment camp during the meeting with the Chairman of the NPC (National People's Congress) Standing Committee in May this year, and follow-up actions have been taken. During this process, the Chief Executive has been playing a positive role as well. I, myself, of course have not received any news, but I would be happy to see things happen in that direction.
