Mr Ma said, "The FFFI, launched in March 2013, is one of the Government's initiatives to support the film industry. It seeks to identify and nurture talent through a competition focusing on screenplays and production proposals, giving young talents who wish to join the film industry a chance to show their flair.

"'Mad World' is the winning film project in the Higher Education Institution Group of the 1st FFFI. The winning team has received full funding from the Film Development Fund to make their first commercial feature film."

Mr Ma said that it is very encouraging to see the director, Wong Chun, scooping the Golden Horse Award for Best New Director. He said he hoped that the FFFI will attract the participation of more young prospective filmmakers with creativity and a capacity in film production, with a view to grooming young talents and promoting the long-term development of Hong Kong's film industry.

Mr Ma also thanked the film trade for its contribution in making this film talent nurturing initiative a success.

Eric Tsang was also nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category at the 53rd Golden Horse Awards for his performance in "Mad World".
