SED to visit Malaysia to strengthen education co-operation
**********************************************************
The Secretary for Education (SED), Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, will leave Hong Kong next Monday (November 28) for a two-day duty visit to Malaysia to strengthen education ties and exchanges between the two places.

Arriving in Kuala Lumpur, Mr Ng will meet with senior officials of the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education to exchange views on education issues of mutual concern.

Building on the Memorandum of Understanding on education co-operation he signed on behalf of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government with the Malaysian Government in March 2015, Mr Ng will seek to enhance co-operation between the two places over talent nurturing and student exchanges, especially in the area of the Belt and Road Initiative.

On November 29, Mr Ng will meet with local businessmen from Hong Kong and members of the Hong Kong-Malaysia Business Association to look into the development opportunities opening up in Malaysia for Hong Kong young people. He will return to Hong Kong in the evening.

Officers accompanying Mr Ng on his visit to Malaysia will include the Administrative Assistant to the SED, Mr Edward Yu, and the Principal Assistant Secretary for Education (Higher Education), Ms Sharon Ko.

During Mr Ng's absence, the Under Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, will be the Acting SED.
