******************************************************************************************
As part of its ongoing efforts to attract overseas talents to Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Brussels (HKETO, Brussels) reached out to students and Hong Kong community members in the Netherlands and France to promote Hong Kong as an ideal place for pursuing further studies or career development.

Representatives of the HKETO, Brussels teamed up with three officers from the Immigration Department to brief students and members of the Hong Kong community overseas on Hong Kong's various talent admission schemes, including the Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates, the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme and the Admission Scheme for the Second Generation of Chinese Hong Kong Permanent Residents.

The representatives from the Immigration Department gave an in-depth explanation on the special scheme for the second generation of Hong Kong migrants in The Hague on November 5 (The Hague time) and in Amsterdam on November 7 (Amsterdam time), in which most of the participants were Hong Kong community members.

On November 7 (Delft time), a luncheon lecture was organised in collaboration with the Delft University of Technology's Honours Programme.  Deputy Representative of the HKETO, Brussels, Miss Alice Choi, and representatives from Immigration Department presented to the students opportunities for further studies and  professional development in Hong Kong.  Some students indicated that they will organise a study trip to Hong Kong in 2017.

The immigration officers, accompanied by Assistant Representative of HKETO, Brussels, Mr KK Yeung, then proceeded to Paris, France, where a similar seminar was held for around 50 members of the Hong Kong community on November 8 (Paris time).   On November 9 (Paris time), the immigration officers gave a talk at the Ecole Polytechnique of Université Paris-Saclay, one of France's elite schools, where students had expressed interest in career, research and internships opportunities in Hong Kong.  In the afternoon, another talk was held with students of the Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris.

The briefings were followed by lively question-and-answer sessions, during which students asked many questions about Hong Kong and living conditions in the city.

To further spread the message that Hong Kong welcomes talents, professionals and entrepreneurs from around the world to work and stay in the city, with a view to enhancing the city's competitive edge in today's globalised economy, HKETO, Brussels arranged interviews for the immigration officers during their visit, with Chinese Radio and TV in Amsterdam and with Sing Tao Daily in Paris.

Earlier this year, on March 10 (Luxembourg time), Miss Choi gave similar briefings to a group of international students from the Luxembourg School of Finance, the Department of Finance of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance of the University of Luxembourg.   On April 14 (Siena time), she briefed 50 international students at the University for Foreigners in Siena, Italy.
