Enhanced GovHK features streamlined navigation

     The GovHK portal (www.gov.hk) is taking on a fresh look today (November 14) to make GovHK visually more vivid and easier to use. The new design particularly targets mobile device users by introducing enhancements like responsive design and other user-friendly features to enhance the browsing experience of users.

     The spokesman for the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer said, "In view of the rapid growth in mobile technology, the GovHK portal has been redesigned to adopt automatic scaling of layouts to fit different mobile screen sizes. The new design will reduce the need to perform horizontal scrolling and hence assist users in browsing GovHK and searching for information."

     Highlights of other enhanced features include:

  • the fixed header bar and drop-down menus enabling users to access interior pages with fewer clicks;
  • distinctive colour schemes for three user groups, Residents, Business & Trade and Non-Residents, to facilitate search for information in different sections; and
  • the adoption of a citizen-centric approach with the most sought-after information and key services reorganised and put up front.

     "We hope that members of the public can enjoy the enhanced features of GovHK which make access to online public information and services more convenient and user-friendly," the spokesman added.

     Launched in 2007, GovHK is a one-stop portal of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, with public information and services organised by user groups and subject areas.
