Appreciation Ceremony for Electronic Health Record Internship Programme held (with photos)
******************************************************************************************
Eleven organisations and 19 interns participating in the Electronic Health Record (eHR) Internship Programme were presented with certificates of appreciation at a ceremony today (November 4) as commendation of their efforts and support for the Government in promoting an eHR sharing system in Hong Kong.

The eHR Internship Programme is a three-year project launched by the Government in 2014 as part of the development roadmap of the territory-wide eHR Sharing System (eHRSS) rolled out in March 2016.

Under the programme, internship placements are provided by participating organisations to graduates of healthcare-related and IT disciplines. The objective is to provide interns with training and practical experience in eHR and to encourage private and non-governmental organisations to take part in eHR-related activities. Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited has been engaged as the Secretariat to provide administration and implementation services for the programme.

A spokesman for the Food and Health Bureau said, "The programme has planted a seed in building up the health informatics capacity in Hong Kong and encouraging private sector participation in eHR sharing, which is crucial to the success of eHRSS implementation.

"As at today, more than 1,000 private healthcare provider organisations have registered with eHRSS and over 300,000 members of the public have joined the system. The Government looks forward to continuous support from the private sector and the community for eHRSS."

Following the certificate presentation, a kick-off ceremony was held to mark the commencement of a community roving exhibition to promote eHRSS and showcase the achievements of the eHR Internship Programme.

The exhibition will be carried out until December 10 at seven venues, namely Cyberport, Tin Chak Shopping Centre, Tai Po Mega Mall, Kwun Tong MTR Station, Olympian City, InnoCentre and Youth Square. Registration booths will also be set up at selected venues for the public to register with eHRSS on site.

Officiating at the ceremony today were the Commissioner for the Electronic Health Record, Mr Sidney Chan; Deputy Head of the eHR Office, Ms Ida Lee; Consultant (eHR), Dr Cheung Ngai-tseung; Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, Mr Herman Lam; and Chief Public Mission Officer of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, Dr Toa Charm.

The public may visit the website of eHRSS (www.ehealth.gov.hk/en/home/index.html) and Cyberport (www.cyberport.hk/en) for more information about eHRSS and the eHR Internship Programme.
