In co-operation with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Berlin (HKETO Berlin) and the Law Society of Hong Kong, the Polish National Bar of Attorneys and the Polish Chamber of Commerce held the conference "China - Hong Kong - Poland: Opportunities for the Polish Business" in Poland's capital Warsaw on October 26 (Warsaw time) to discuss business opportunities under the Belt and Road Initiative.

The conference was part of HKETO Berlin's plan to promote Hong Kong's professional services under the Belt and Road Initiative in collaboration with professional bodies and associations. Apart from the Director of HKETO Berlin, Ms Betty Ho, speakers in the conference included the Chinese Ambassador to Poland, Mr Xu Jian; the President of the Polish Chamber of Commerce, Mr Andrzej Arendarski; the President of the Polish National Bar of Attorneys, Mr Dariusz SaƂajewski; the President of the All China Lawyers Association, Mr Wang Junfeng; and the Vice Presidents of the Law Society of Hong Kong, Ms Melissa Pang and Mr Amirali Nasir.

At the conference, the speakers exchanged views on the business opportunities under the Belt and Road Initiative, the business environment and regulations in Hong Kong, and many other legal issues that concern Polish investors and companies.

Ms Ho highlighted Hong Kong's unique advantages under "one country, two systems", especially the benefits conferred by the Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement. "With our strong professional services sector and extensive experience in doing business in Mainland China, Hong Kong is the natural and perfect partner for Polish businesses to expand their reach to Mainland China and Asia", Ms Ho added.

The conference also featured an exhibition on the Belt and Road Initiative staged by HKETO Berlin, and the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Law Society of Hong Kong and the Polish National Bar of Attorneys to strengthen co-operation.
