SHA's Commendation Scheme presentation ceremony held (with photo)

     The Secretary for Home Affairs (SHA), Mr Lau Kong-wah, today (October 24) presented commendation certificates and award pins to 162 persons in recognition of their dedicated services and remarkable contributions to the promotion of community building, community service, caring for the underprivileged, youth development and building management.

     Addressing the award presentation ceremony, Mr Lau thanked and complimented the awardees for their enthusiastic participation in serving the community and selfless contributions to society in different areas.
    
     "The Government has always been committed to serving the community, facilitating development and economic prosperity, improving people's livelihood and building the community, thereby providing the people a secure environment to live and work in. However, the success of building an ideal and harmonious society cannot solely depend on the Government's efforts. Support and co-operation from various sectors also play vital roles," he remarked.

     Mr Lau also encouraged more people to follow suit in participating in community affairs for the advancement of Hong Kong.

     The SHA's Commendation Scheme, introduced in 2002, aims to recognise individuals who have made outstanding contributions to community building, community service and the development of sport, culture and art.
