SCED visits Wan Chai District (with photos)
*******************************************

The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, visited Wan Chai today (October 20) to gain a better understanding of the latest developments in the district.

Mr So visited Li Sing Tai Hang School, a government-aided primary school which has been providing education for non-Chinese speaking students since 2003. Currently the school has more than 300 students and most of them are non-ethnic Chinese.

The school principal first gave him a brief introduction on measures to assist the non-Chinese speaking students, such as using English as the medium of teaching, and developing students' self-learning abilities as well as enhancing their learning efficiency through information technology.

Mr So then watched speech and dance performances by students at the school hall, and chatted with them about their studies and daily lives.

During the district visit, Mr So also met with members of the Wan Chai District Council to exchange views on district matters.
