TD launches "eTraffic News" mobile application (with photos)

     To strengthen information dissemination during traffic incidents, the Transport Department (TD) today (September 24) launched the "eTraffic News" mobile application to provide members of the public with incident details as soon as possible for advance journey planning.

     The major features of "eTraffic News" include:

* Classification according to the incident nature, e.g. "Road Incident" and "Heavy Traffic", with concise headlines for easy understanding;
* Options for users to receive alerts according to incident categories;
* Provision of the TD's major traffic notices, including special traffic arrangements and major road works, with alerts sent on the effective dates;
* Setting of muting period;
* Scrolling text bar to draw attention to important messages; and
* Options for users to forward the contents to advise relatives/friends on the latest traffic conditions.
