Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected cannabis buds (with photos)

Customs officers intercepted a man in Kowloon Tong this morning and found about 2.1 kilograms of suspected cannabis buds inside two paper bags he was carrying. Subsequently, a small quantity of suspected cannabis buds, suspected methamphetamine and a batch of suspected drug packing paraphernalia were also found on him and in his reported residence.
Later in this morning, Customs officers intercepted another man in Sham Tseng and found about 5.2 kilograms of suspected cannabis buds in a suitcase he was carrying. Subsequent premises search at his residence resulted in a further seizure of about 200 grams of suspected cannabis buds and a batch of suspected packing paraphernalia.
The two men, aged 30 and 50 respectively, were arrested for suspected trafficking in a dangerous drug. The case is still under investigation.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
