CSSA caseload for August

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in August showed a drop of 387 cases, representing a decrease of 0.2 per cent compared with that of July, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (September 21).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of August stood at 240 267 (see attached table), with a total of 357 174 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases and unemployment cases both registered month-to-month decreases of 0.9 per cent to 5 634 cases and 15 075 cases respectively. Single parent cases and old age cases also dropped by 0.4 per cent and 0.1 per cent to 27 833 cases and 145 011 cases respectively.

     Permanent disability cases and ill health cases registered slight increases of 0.1 per cent and 0.3 per cent to 17 706 cases and 24 416 cases respectively.
