Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected cocaine in Sheung Wan (with photo)

     Hong Kong Customs yesterday (September 13) seized about 1.25 kilograms of suspected cocaine and a small quantity of suspected crack cocaine and suspected cannabis in Sheung Wan. The market value of the drugs was about $1.3 million.

     During an anti-narcotics operation in Sheung Wan yesterday afternoon, Customs officers intercepted two men and found the suspected dangerous drugs in their possession and their residence.

     The two men, aged 30 and 33 respectively, both claimed to be unemployed, were arrested for suspected trafficking in a dangerous drug. The case is still under investigation.

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
