Reminder to ticket holders of Mainland Olympians' sports demonstrations and variety show
****************************************************************************************
     A delegation of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Mainland Olympians will visit Hong Kong for three days from tomorrow (August 27) to August 29 and will give two sports demonstrations in the morning on August 28 (Sunday). They will also take part in a variety show in the afternoon on the same day. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) today (August 26) advised ticket holders of the three events to allow adequate time to arrive at the venues and undergo security checks for the smooth running of the events. Audience members, after entry, are advised to retain their tickets for lucky draws and ticket inspection purposes.

     On Sunday, badminton and table tennis demonstrations by the Mainland Olympians will be staged at Queen Elizabeth Stadium between 9.30am and 11.30am, while a diving demonstration will be held at Victoria Park Swimming Pool from 10am to 11.30am. Following the sport demonstrations, the "A Date with Mainland Olympians" variety show will be held at Queen Elizabeth Stadium between 4.30pm and 6pm. Ticket holders can be seated about an hour before the show starts.

     There will be free seating on a first-come, first-served basis for the two sports demonstrations and the variety show. All persons should produce valid admission tickets upon entry and observe the house rules, which have been distributed together with the tickets. The relevant house rules have also been uploaded to the LCSD's designated website www.lcsd.gov.hk/en/rio2016/rules.html.

     To ensure public safety and order, spectators are prohibited from bringing the following items into the venue according to the house rules:

  • any glassware or fragile objects which may pose potential danger;
  • any alcoholic drinks or drinks in cans or glass bottles;
  • animals (except guide dogs and Police dogs);
  • any items which may be offensive or hazardous to health or which can be used as weapons or used to impede the smooth progress of the event, e.g. knifes, fireworks, laser pointers, compressed gas or liquid spray or large items;
  • any banners, posters, placards, leaflets or publicity and display materials with contents that are commercial, abusive, threatening, discriminatory, religious or political;
  • mechanically or non-mechanically operated sound tools, e.g. loudspeakers, drums, gongs and the like; and
  • any remote-controlled flying devices or toys.

     The LCSD reminds participants that those who violate the house rules will not be admitted or will be required to leave the venues.

     In the event of inclement weather on the day of the sports demonstrations and variety show, members of the public should pay attention to the announcements on radio and television for special arrangements.
