SCED promotes Hong Kong brands in Dalian (with photos)

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, today (August 26) attended a series of events in Dalian under "Savouring Hong Kong．Liaoning 2016" co-hosted by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government and the People's Government of Liaoning Province. The events aim to deepen mutual understanding between Hong Kong and Dalian by promoting Hong Kong's priority industries and culture as well as trendy and creative products to the people and enterprises in Dalian.

     Speaking at the opening ceremony of "Savouring Hong Kong．Liaoning 2016" and "2016 Hong Kong Trendy Products Expo, Dalian", as well as "Dalian + Hong Kong Brand Festival", Mr So said the HKSAR Government has worked with the Hong Kong Tourism Board this year to organise the "Taste of Hong Kong" thematic exhibition. The exhibition showcases Hong Kong's food culture, which blends the essence of East and West, to the people of Dalian in an innovative, interactive and diversified approach.

     Before the opening ceremony, Mr So met with the Vice-Governor of the People's Government of Liaoning Province, Mr Bing Zhigang. Mr So expressed gratitude to Liaoning Province for its support for "Savouring Hong Kong．Liaoning 2016" and the HKSAR Government.

     In the afternnon, he attended a business seminar co-organised by the HKSAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. At the seminar, two marketing experts from Hong Kong shared their views with Liaoning enterprises on how to make use of Internet thinking to reshape the positioning of enterprises and tap the business opportunities under the Belt and Road Initiative.

     Mr So will visit the Dalian Hi-tech Industrial Zone later today. He will also attend the opening ceremony for the 5th Hong Kong Thematic Film Festival co-organised by the Office of the Government of the HKSAR in Beijing, the Liaoning Liaison Unit and Broadway Cinematheque in the evening.

     Mr So will return to Hong Kong tomorrow (August 27).
