SED to visit Beijing for education exchanges (with photos)

     The Secretary for Education (SED), Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, will leave Hong Kong today (August 17) for education exchanges in Beijing.
 
     This afternoon Mr Ng will visit the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and exchange views on issues such as professional development of school principals and teachers, the Sister School Scheme, and student exchanges. He will also meet some Hong Kong students who are currently pursuing higher education in Beijing to learn more about their study and daily life.

     Mr Ng will attend a regular working meeting tomorrow (August 18) with officials of the Ministry of Education and introduce the progress and achievements on education and youth development covered in the Report on the Work of the Current-term Government in its Fourth Year. Afterwards, he will visit Tsinghua University and tour its i.Center, an incubator to support and help students with their entrepreneurship and innovation development.
 
     Officials accompanying Mr Ng on his visit to Beijing will include the Permanent Secretary for Education, Mrs Marion Lai; Deputy Secretaries for Education, Mr Brian Lo and Dr Catherine K K Chan; Principal Assistant Secretary for Education (Professional Development and Training), Mr Benjamin Yung; and Administrative Assistant to the SED, Mr Edward Yu. They will return to Hong Kong tomorrow night.
 
     During Mr Ng's absence, the Under Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, will be the Acting SED.
