Proprietor fined for violation of occupational safety legislation

     K Wah Concrete Company Limited was fined $36,000 at Shatin Magistrates’ Courts today (July 22) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Guarding and Operation of Machinery) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on October 30, 2015 at a concrete batching plant in Tai Po. A worker, while using a shovel to clear up debris near the conveyor belt of a machine, was fatally trapped between the running conveyor belt and the shovel.
