Update on cluster of Influenza A cases at Kowloon Hospital

Regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of patient infected with Influenza A cases in a female rehabilitation ward, the spokesperson for Kowloon Hospital made the following update today (July 22):
Two more patients (aged 74 and 86) have presented with respiratory symptoms and fever in the ward. Appropriate viral tests were arranged for the patients and the test results were positive for Influenza A. The patients are being treated in isolation and are in a stable condition.
Admission to the ward has been suspended and restricted visiting to the ward has been imposed. Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
