Non-tangible disaster relief support for earthquake victims in Ecuador
**********************************************************************
The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has approved from the Disaster Relief Fund a grant of $1.5 million to World Vision Hong Kong to provide non-tangible disaster relief support to earthquake victims in Ecuador.

Announcing the grant today (July 21), a spokesman for the Government said that this grant was approved for the first time under the Pilot Scheme on Non-tangible Relief Support introduced on the advice of the Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee to provide non-tangible relief support to disaster victims such as post-trauma counselling, psycho-social support and other therapy programmes.

The grant will be mainly used to set up child friendly spaces for organising different activities to provide psycho-social support to children and adolescents.

“To facilitate review of the quality and effectiveness of the relief programme and ensure that the money would be used for the designated purposes, World Vision Hong Kong would be asked to submit an evaluation report and an audited account after the programme has been completed,” the spokesman said.

The grant, together with those approved earlier, will take the accumulative value of grants for earthquake victims in Ecuador to $6.202 million.
