SHA attends Changsha cultural exchange programme (with photos)

     The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Lau Kong-wah, today (July 18) attended the opening ceremony of an annual cultural exchange programme and co-operation forum in Changsha, Hunan, in his capacity as the adviser of the Hong Kong delegation.
 
     Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr Lau said, "This major annual event organised by the Ministry of Culture provides an important exchange platform for arts and cultural sectors in Hong Kong, Macau and the Mainland. Through cultural forums, organisation exchanges and visits, Hong Kong delegates can learn about the country's long-standing and extensive cultural resources, and boost their cultural understanding of national affairs. It can also enhance the friendship between the three places, and create a solid foundation for future co-operation."
 
     During his stay in Changsha, Mr Lau has also attended a seminar on cultural heritage and modern life to exchange views with representatives on experiences and ideas in transforming cultural inheritance into contemporary living art. The delegates also visited the cultural organisations in Changsha and cultural and creative enterprises in groups, and attended seminars at the different places.
 
     The cultural exchange programme was co-organised by the Ministry of Culture and the Hunan Provincial People's Government. The programme aims to allow participants to experience Hunan's culture and showcase the province’s historical and cultural heritage.
 
     Mr Lau will return to Hong Kong tomorrow morning (July 19).
