Homicide and arson case in Western District

     Police are investigating a homicide and arson case in Western District today (July 16) in which two men, a woman and a girl died.

     About 1.40am today, Police received reports that there was a fire at a unit in Kwun Lung Lau in Western District. A man was also reportedly fell from the unit.

     Police officers sped to the scene and found that the unit was on fire. A man was found lying on the podium and was certified dead at scene. He was later confirmed to be the 26-year-old resident of the unit. Police found two charred bodies in the unit after the fire was put out. They were later confirmed to be a 26-year-old woman who resided in the unit and her three-year-old daughter after investigation. A charred male body was found in another unit and was later confirmed to be the 63-year-old resident.

     Initial post-mortem results revealed that the 63-year-old man, the woman and the girl died of extensive burnt. The 26-year-old man died of multiple injuries caused by falling from height.

     Active investigation by the Regional Crime Unit of Hong Kong Island is under way.
