Ian Fu is a self-taught flamenco guitarist. Fu first encountered flamenco music when he borrowed cassette tapes of two leading masters, Paco de Lucia and Paco Peña, from the library at his university. Listening to these two masters inspired him to learn about the magical sound of flamenco, and also had great influence on his skills and knowledge of flamenco guitar.

Since the late 80s, Fu has been working overseas and was able to meet some of the leading overseas professional flamenco guitarists and see them perform live. In the early 90s, he started working with professional flamenco dancers and singers.

Since 2000, Fu has been giving flamenco guitar performances in Hong Kong and the Mainland. In 2006, he founded the "Mi Camino Flamenco" guitar group to promote flamenco guitar among the Chinese community. In 2007, he successfully organised the first Flamenco Guitar Festival in Hong Kong. He has frequently performed live, including the Flamenco Guitar Solo Concert and Flamenco Dance Accompany Show, as well as performing for television and radio.

All lectures (to be conducted in Cantonese) will be held at 7.30pm at the Lecture Hall of the Hong Kong Space Museum. Tickets priced at $50 (for each lecture) are now available at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk). For telephone credit card bookings, please call 2111 5999.
