Fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi this morning (June 28) in which two men aged 41 and 49 died.

     About 4.25am, a taxi driven by a 54-year-old man was travelling along the third lane of Tsing Kwai Highway towards Kowloon. When approaching near Mei Foo Sun Chuen, it reportedly rammed to a special purpose vehicle which was parked on the second lane for a road work and hit three male workers nearby.

     A 41 year-old male worker was certified dead at scene. Sustaining multiple injuries, two male workers aged 33 and 49 were rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital in unconscious state, in which the 49-year-old man was certified dead at 5.27am.

     The taxi driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries. Sustaining neck injuries, he was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital in conscious state.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South is underway.
