TPB decides on planning application for Tai Hang Sai Estate
***********************************************************

The Town Planning Board (TPB) decided today (June 24) to approve with conditions the planning application for the proposed comprehensive redevelopment of Tai Hang Sai Estate (THSE) (including flats and shops and services) and minor relaxation of plot ratio and building height restrictions in the "Comprehensive Development Area" zone.

In arriving at the decision, the TPB recognised the need for redevelopment of THSE and considered the proposal acceptable from planning and technical aspects.

Nevertheless, the TPB is very concerned about the rehousing arrangement for the existing tenants, particularly on the non-provision of subsidised rental flats in the proposal. Having noted the comments of the Transport and Housing Bureau that the redevelopment proposal should not proceed if the applicant failed to reach an agreement with the existing tenants on rehousing/decanting agreements, the TPB has requested the Government not to execute the lease modification for the redevelopment proposal before the rehousing arrangement has been satisfactorily resolved.
