Here is an item of interest to swimmers.

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced today (June 24) that the Butterfly Beach in Tuen Mun District, which was closed yesterday following the discovery of a shark, is now reopened.

An LCSD spokesman said the department's shark prevention net maintenance contractor had completed inspection of the shark prevention net at the beach, and confirmed that there was no big fish inside the enclosed zone of the net and the net was in good condition.

Marine Police and Government Flying Service had completed checks and searches in the nearby waters of the beach and confirmed that no shark was sighted.

The spokesman appealed to swimmers to swim in the enclosed zones of the shark prevention nets for safety's sake, adding that LCSD staff would remain vigilant and strengthen patrols in the swimming zones.
