Director of Fire Services deeply grieved by death of Senior Fireman Mr Samuel Hui (with photo)

     The Director of Fire Services, Mr Lai Man-hin, is deeply grieved by the death of Senior Fireman Mr Samuel Hui, who passed away in United Christian Hospital yesterday (June 23).

     Mr Hui, aged 37, sustained serious injuries while attending a No. 4 alarm fire in an industrial centre at 7 Ngau Tau Kok Road. He was rushed to hospital in a coma and passed away in United Christian Hospital at 9.10pm last night. He is survived by his wife and a son.

     "I am profoundly grieved at the loss of this brave and dedicated Senior Fireman. All of our colleagues are highly saddened by the loss of such a devoted comrade. On behalf of all our colleagues, I have offered the deepest condolences to his family," Mr Lai said.

     "Our Welfare Officer is closely liaising with Mr Hui's family and will render our utmost assistance to help them through this sad and difficult time. The Fire Services Department (FSD) will set up a funeral committee to make arrangements for Mr Hui's funeral," Mr Lai added.

     Mr Hui joined the FSD in April 1998 as a Fireman and was promoted to Senior Fireman in May 2016. He had served in Yau Tong Fire Station and Kwun Tong Fire Station.

     Among the other 10 personnel who received treatment at the hospital, eight have been discharged while two are in stable condition and receiving medical treatment in the hospital. Mr Lai expressed sincere wishes for their speedy recovery.
