TSA 2016 Tryout Study (Primary 3) written assessments
*****************************************************

The Territory-wide System Assessment (TSA) 2016 Tryout Study (Primary 3) is being rolled out in phases. The written assessments for Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics (CEM) will be conducted on June 14 and 15.

"One of the major objectives of the Tryout Study is to find out whether the modified papers and item design proposed by the Working Group of the Coordinating Committee on Basic Competency Assessment and Assessment Literacy will uphold the reliability and validity of the assessment, align with the requirements of basic competencies of Primary 3 students, and tie in with the curriculum to meet students' learning needs," a spokesman for the Education Bureau (EDB) said today (June 13).

"To allow early access of various sectors to the modified papers and items and to facilitate the collection of opinions, we will upload the CEM papers, together with information on item design, such as corresponding basic competency descriptors, question intent and suggested answers, to the webpage of the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (www.bca.hkeaa.edu.hk/web/TSA/en/PriPaperSchema.html) after completion of the respective assessments on June 14 and 15. Views and suggestions from members of the public and stakeholders are welcome."

After the written assessments, the EDB will collect opinions and suggestions from different stakeholders in parallel through various channels, including focus groups, a questionnaire survey, workshops and a case study.

The spokesman added, "The EDB hopes to work together with stakeholders in consolidating the experience of the Tryout Study with a view to enhancing the future arrangement of the TSA and professional support measures. With the mutual trust fostered through participation, sharing and collaboration, we will promote quality education and facilitate effective and pleasurable student learning."
