Fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi in the small hours today (June 13) in which a 47-year-old man died.

     At about 1.35am, a taxi driven by a 37-year-old man was travelling along the Lantau Link towards Hong Kong International Airport. When approaching near the toll plaza on North Lantau Highway, it reportedly knocked down the 47-year-old man and the two special purpose vehicles stopped there.

     Sustaining multiple injuries, the 47-year-old man was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 3.08am.

     The taxi driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries. Sustaining head injuries, he was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital in conscious state.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South is underway.
