Junior Police Call members and groups commended for their contributions (with photos)

     A total of 332 winners of the Junior Police Call (JPC) Awards Scheme 2015 were commended today (June 11) for their outstanding contributions in disseminating anti-drug messages, organising and participating in community services, promoting the JPC Scheme and assisting crime prevention.

     They received commendation trophies from the Acting Commissioner of Police, Mr Wong Chi-hung; Director of Operations, Mr Lau Yip-shing; Acting Chief Superintendent of Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB), Mr Tse Chun-chung; and the Group General Manager and Chief Operating Officer, Asia Pacific of HSBC, Mr Raymond Cheng, at the presentation ceremony.

     At the ceremony, Mr Tse said that the JPC Scheme established over forty years aimed at encouraging youths to become youth leaders and fight crime partners. The "Fight Crime by You and Technology Awards" were added to inspire young people to fight crime through using innovative technology.

     As of today, the JPC Scheme has almost 200,000 members. Mr Tse further thanked members of JPC Central Advisory Board, JPC Honorary Presidents, school principals, teachers, JPC district councils, school clubs and staff of respective police districts for their unwavering support to the overwhelming success of the JPC Scheme.

     The JPC Awards Scheme is organised by the Police and sponsored by HSBC.  This year, apart from the JPC Scheme Awards, the "Fight Crime by You and Technology Awards" are added to arouse the awareness of youths in using innovative technology in crime prevention. Both awards comprise five categories, namely Best JPC Member, Best JPC Leader/Advanced Leader, Best JPC School Club (Primary School), Best JPC School Club (Secondary School) and Best JPC District Council.

     A selection panel comprising representatives from the PPRB, HSBC and JPC Central Advisory Board selected the winners from those recommended by districts.

     Miss Mak Tsz-yau from Sau Mau Ping District was selected as the Best JPC Member and Mr Lo Ka-po from Kwai Tsing District was selected as the Best JPC Leader in the JPC Scheme Awards. The Sau Ming Primary School in Sau Mau Ping District and the Kwun Tong Government Secondary School in Kwun Tong District won the Best JPC School Club (Primary School) and the Best JPC School Club (Secondary School) awards respectively.  The Best JPC District Council award went to Kwai Tsing JPC District Council.

     Miss Mak Tsz-yau from Sau Mau Ping District went extra miles and was selected as the Best JPC Member in the "Fight Crime by You and Technology Awards" whilst the Best JPC Leader award went to Mr Yip Kin-man from Eastern District. The Best JPC School Club (Primary School), the Best JPC School Club (Secondary School) and the Best JPC District Council awards went to King¡¦s College Old Boys¡¦ Association Primary School in Central District, Holy Trinity College in Sham Shui Po District and Tsuen Wan JPC District Council.
