Police condemn behaviour endangering public safety
**************************************************

In connection with a public procession conducted on Hong Kong Island last night (June 4) without prior notice to the Police according to the law, Police condemn the participants for their behaviour that endangers public safety.

The participants conducted a public procession from Victoria Park to Western District last night without prior notice to the Police according to the law. During the procession, the participants ignored the advice and warnings given by the Police officers at scene and once blocked the carriageway on Hennessy Road westbound. Their behaviour obstructed the traffic and endangered the safety of their own and other road users. Police condemn such irresponsible behaviour.

Police reiterate that we respect the public's freedoms of expression, speech and assembly. It is the policy of Police to facilitate all lawful and peaceful public events while at the same time ensuring public safety and public order. Resolute enforcement actions will be taken against any illegal acts to preserve public order and safeguard public safety.
