CS to visit the United States

     The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, will visit the United States from June 2 to 10, covering the three cities of Washington, DC; New York; and San Francisco, where the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has had a long-established presence through its Economic and Trade Offices.

     During her stay in San Francisco, Mrs Lam will call on senior officials, speak at a business luncheon, visit art museums and meet with their senior management, visit the San Francisco waterfront and meet with distinguished Chinese American leaders as well as Hong Kong people living in the city. The Chief Executive Officer of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA), Mr Duncan Pescod, will accompany Mrs Lam in some of the visits and meetings to explore opportunities for collaboration between the WKCDA and relevant overseas institutions.

     On June 5 (Eastern Standard Time), Mrs Lam will proceed to Washington, DC, where she will meet with senior officials at the federal level, members of the Senate and think tanks. She will attend a business luncheon and officiate at a reception hosted by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Washington, DC. She will also visit a museum and speak at a dinner with women leaders.
 
     On arrival in New York on June 8 (Eastern Standard Time), Mrs Lam will meet with a think tank, speak at a luncheon hosted by the Asia Society, officiate at the Hong Kong Association of New York Gala Dinner, and visit cultural institutions and meet with their senior management.
 
     Mrs Lam will depart New York on June 10 (Eastern Standard Time) and arrive in Hong Kong in the evening on June 11 (Hong Kong time). During her absence, the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, will act as Chief Secretary for Administration.
