SED to witness Nansha-Hong Kong Sister School Contract Signing Ceremony
*******************************************************

The Secretary for Education (SED), Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, will visit Nansha in Guangdong Province this afternoon (May 25) to attend the Nansha-Hong Kong Sister School Contract Signing Ceremony.

Mr Ng and officials from the Nansha Education Bureau will attend the 2016 Nansha-Hong Kong Sister School Contract Signing Ceremony cum Cultural Exchange Activities to witness the pairing up of seven Hong Kong schools (comprising four secondary schools and three primary schools) with their counterparts in Nansha.

Since the Guangdong-Hong Kong Sister School Scheme was launched in 2005, the number of Guangdong-Hong Kong sister school pairs has reached 334, including the seven Nansha-Hong Kong sister school pairs newly formed today. The Sister School Scheme has served as a platform for professional interflows and co-operation among schools of the two places. Based on their school-based targets and development needs, schools can arrange different types of sister school exchange activities with their counterparts at various levels, including school management, principals, teachers, parents and students, so as to facilitate educational and cultural interflows, enhance teachers' professionalism and broaden students' horizons.

Mr Ng will then visit Fok Ying Tung High School, a whole-day boarding school in Nansha, which has for years been running exchange activities with a number of schools in Hong Kong, Europe and the United States.

Accompanying Mr Ng to visit Nansha will be the Administrative Assistant to the SED, Mr Edward Yu. They will return to Hong Kong tonight.
