The Legislative Council (LegCo) Subcommittee on Matters Relating to Railways conducted a site visit to MTR Ho Tung Lau Depot at Fo Tan today (May 23) to tour the new East Rail Line train.
Members toured the new nine-car train and were briefed by representatives of MTR on the design and new facilities of the train, including the light-emitting diode (LED) interior lighting, passenger information systems, dynamic route maps and improved grab poles. During the visit, Members expressed concerns on issues relating to the capacity of the new train as well as the testing of the signaling systems.
Members who participated in the visit are the Chairman of the Subcommittee, Mr Chan Han-pan, along with the Deputy Chairman, Mr Wong Kwok-hing and the Subcommittee members, Mr Michael Tien, Mr Gary Fan, Dr Lo Wai-kwok and Mr Alvin Yeung, and non-Subcommittee members Mr Chan Hak-kan and Mr Alan Leong.
