Twenty-three building plans approved in March

     The Buildings Department approved 23 building plans in March, with three on Hong Kong Island, nine in Kowloon and 11 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 12 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, four were for commercial developments, two were for factory and industrial developments and five were for community services development.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 17 building projects that, when completed, will provide 113 170 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 1 685 units, and 138 513 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 11 building projects.

     The department also issued 22 occupation permits, with seven on Hong Kong Island, eight in Kowloon and seven in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 80 961 sq m, involving 833 units, and 149 580 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in March totalled about $4.9 billion.

     In addition, nine demolition consents involving nine building structures were issued.

     The department received 2 923 reports about unauthorised building works in March, and issued 779 removal orders on unauthorised works.
