The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in April showed a drop of 595 cases, representing a decrease of 0.2 per cent compared to that of March, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (May 18).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of April stood at 242 308 (see attached table), with a total of 359 390 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases and unemployment cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.9 per cent and 1.2 per cent to 5 950 cases and 15 657 cases respectively, while old age cases dropped by 0.2 per cent to 145 912 cases.
Permanent disability, ill health and single parent cases all decreased by 0.1 per cent to 17 786, 24 385 and 28 073 cases respectively.
