The Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPCSC), Mr Zhang Dejiang, attended a dinner at Government House hosted by the Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, this evening (May 17).
Those also invited to the dinner included the Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, Mr Wang Guangya; the Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Mr Zhang Xiaoming; the Deputy Secretary-General of the NPCSC and Chairman of the HKSAR Basic Law Committee under the NPCSC, Mr Li Fei; the Deputy Secretary-General of the State Council, Mr Jiang Zelin; and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce, the Peopleˇ¦s Bank of China, Guangdong Province and Shenzhen.
Others attending included the Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, Mr Geoffrey Ma Tao-li; the President of the Legislative Council, Mr Jasper Tsang; the Convenor of the Non-official Members of the Executive Council, Mr Lam Woon-kwong; and Principal Officials of the HKSAR Government.
