NPCSC Chairman arrives in Hong Kong for three-day visit (with photos/video)

     Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPCSC) Mr Zhang Dejiang arrived in Hong Kong around noon today (May 17) for a three-day visit.

     Those accompanying Mr Zhang on his visit include the Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, Mr Wang Guangya; the Deputy Secretary-General of the NPCSC and Chairman of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Basic Law Committee under the NPCSC, Mr Li Fei; and the Deputy Secretary-General of the State Council, Mr Jiang Zelin.

     The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, greeted Mr Zhang at the airport apron.

     Other members of the welcoming party included the Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, Mr Zhang Xiaoming; the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam; the Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang; the Secretary for Justice, Mr Rimsky Yuen, SC; the President of the Legislative Council, Mr Jasper Tsang; the Convenor of the Non-official Members of the Executive Council, Mr Lam Woon-kwong; the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR, Mr Song Zhe; the Commander-in-chief of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison, Mr Tan Benhong; and the Political Commissar of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison, Mr Yue Shixin.

     After disembarking from the plane, Mr Zhang shook hands with the welcoming party and spoke to reporters.
