The spokesperson for Tuen Mun Hospital issued the following update today (May 16) regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of Multi-drug Resistant Acinetobacter (MDRA) cases in a male Orthopaedics and Traumatology ward:
The hospital has continued with the screening procedures and confirmed one more 77-year-old male patient to have MDRA. He is now in critical condition due to underlying disease and hospitalised under medical surveillance and isolation.
The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up. The hospital will continue the enhanced infection control measures and closely monitor the situation.
