Transcript of remarks by CS (with photo/video)
**********************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, at a media session in Chengdu, Sichuan this evening (May 10):

Reporter: There used to be fears among Hong Kong politicians and the people from other sectors that the donation could have fallen into the hands of probably corrupt Mainland officials. What has the Hong Kong Government done or what will the Hong Kong Government do to ensure that the money, the donation, will not fall into the wrong hands?

Chief Secretary for Administration: Well, there's absolutely no ground for any such allegations. In the last eight years, together with the Sichuan Provincial Government, we have a very vigilant system in place to check and monitor the progress of the projects and the use of the funds approved by the Hong Kong Legislative Council. And so as a result of that we have now seen the satisfactory completion of all the projects except the two road projects which are extremely difficult to build and which will be completed later this year. And all these projects are subject to proper tendering procedures and auditing by the relevant authorities, and that's why we can now conclude that we have the residual funding of RMB190 million which we will continue to put into the projects that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has supported in the last eight years.
