Special traffic arrangements on Hong Kong Island

     Police will implement special traffic arrangements this Sunday (May 8) to facilitate a public procession to be held on Hong Kong Island.
 
A. Road closure
 
     The following roads will be intermittently closed from 2.40pm, until the crowd is dispersed:
 
- Rodney Street;
- Tamar Street;
- Eastbound Queensway between Tamar Street and Des Voeux Road Central;
- Southbound Murray Road between Queensway and Harcourt Road;
- Des Voeux Road Central between Pedder Street and Queensway;
- Westbound Harcourt Road between Harcourt Garden car park exit and Tamar Street;
- Eastbound Harcourt Road between Tim Wa Avenue and Tim Mei Avenue;
- Southbound Tim Wa Avenue, except vehicles heading for the Chief Executive¡¦s Office and Central Government Offices car park;
- The first and second right lane of Garden Road flyover; and
- Southbound Edinburgh Place between Lung Wo Road and Connaught Road Central.
 
B. Traffic diversions
 
     The following traffic diversions will be implemented when necessary from 2.40pm, until the crowd is dispersed:
 
- Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road cannot turn left to southbound Rodney Street, except franchised buses;
- Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road near Harcourt Garden car park exit will be diverted to westbound Harcourt Road flyover;
- Traffic along eastbound Harcourt Road must turn right to southbound Cotton Tree Drive;
- Traffic along eastbound Queensway cannot turn left to northbound Tamar Street or northbound Rodney Street;
- Traffic along westbound Drake Street cannot turn right to northbound Tamar Street;
- Traffic along southbound Cotton Tree Drive cannot turn left to eastbound Drake Street;
- Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road cannot turn left to southbound Murray Road;
- Traffic along Lambeth Walk must go straight to westbound Chater Road;
- Traffic along eastbound Des Voeux Road Central must turn left to northbound Pedder Street;
- Traffic from northbound Garden Road flyover must turn left to westbound Queen¡¦s Road Central;
- Traffic along northbound Cotton Tree Drive will be diverted to northbound Tim Wa Avenue;
- Traffic along Lung Wo Road cannot enter Tim Wa Avenue, except vehicles heading for the Chief Executive¡¦s Office and Central Government Offices car park; and
- Traffic along Lung Wo Road cannot enter southbound Edinburgh Place.  
 
     Vehicles may not be permitted to leave the car parks along the procession routes during the road closure period.
 
     Actual implementation of the traffic arrangements will be made depending on traffic and crowd conditions in the area. Motorists are advised to exercise tolerance and patience and take heed of instructions of the Police on site.
